Sweet 16 Dresses: A Parents Perspective

Being the parent of a teenage girl approaching 16 is not always easy. Sometimes you feel like they are 16 going on 30! What the results are when it comes to deciding on a dresses for special occasion?

How do you strike the balance between what they would like to wear and what you are happy seeing them wear. While your daughter may be looking for something sexy, I am certain you would rather see her in something more demure, less unveiling, less adult. It needn't function as battle you expect... honestly. There are many beautiful dresses available (at reasonable cost) that strike the balance between sexy and frumpy.

Your daughter is growing up so you are going to have to aceept her wearing something more adult, but it needn't be something that shows more material than fabric. A product like this pleated satin dress would suit your purposes: A good length in the skirt but still flirty and fun. Your daughter will cherish the spaghetti tie and the ribbon design. As mentioned above, short and strapless is very popular at the moment.

If you are not happy with your daughter wearing something so unveiling, then meet halfway. Dresses with assymetrical necklines (one shoulder bracelet) are cropping up all over the catwalks and red carpet and make any dress more classy. Or treat your daughter to a long formal gown for extreme elegance. Whatever your feelings on the subject of choosing a Sweet 16 dress, make sure choosing one is made with your Sweet 16 and that you remember she is a new woman who wants to dress like one.
